The Tower Theatre opened in 1938 and is the oldest remaining continuously running picture palace in Sacramento. William B. David designed it in the Streamline Moderne style.
Tower Records is named for it, since the original store was built into its side. The theater has hosted the premiere of Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, and Gerwig is a Sacramento native.
