Oak Park

A neighborhood south of Highway 50 that was a thriving destination in the early 1900s; home to McGeorge School of Law and Sacramento High School.

Oak Park is bounded informally by U.S. 50, Stockton Boulevard, the Highway 99 freeway and Fruitridge Road, with Broadway and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard as the main streets. McGeorge School of Law and Sacramento High School are here.

In the early 1900s it was a culturally thriving and economically vibrant neighborhood, helped by its ties to the historic State Fairgrounds site. It never fully recovered from the Great Depression, compounded by discriminatory practices such as redlining.
