The Fabulous Forties

The grand-house streets of East Sacramento, once the end of the streetcar network.

The Fabulous Forties, or Fab 40s, is part of East Sacramento. It is the historic terminus of the extensive streetcar network that once covered the city’s historic neighborhoods.

Until the Great Depression its grand homes were considered the modern equivalent of a suburban mansion. A deodar cedar over a hundred years old stands in the neighborhood.
